Start by stamping your largest flower with Versamark. There's really no "right" way to do it. I tried to create a sideways "flow" of flowers across my card and stamped it the best I could. This part you can certainly stamp all of your flowers at once but choose to do one type at a time. It's easier for me to see and I won't accidentally put my clumsy hands in something that's already stamped. But certainly do what ever way is easiest for you.
Let's get to the fun part...COLORING!
1. Apply just a dot of ink to your water brush. Make sure that it's wet but not completely soaking or else your color will run and you won't get this gradient effect. Apply your ink the the base of ONE petal. YES! You need to color one petal at a time. You are trying to capture shading to make the flower appear more realistic.
Always start your color towards the base of each petal. Then, using your brush, in very small circular motions, push the color towards the ends. If your color is too dark then wipe off the excess onto a piece of scrap paper. With water color, you can always take a little color back off with just a clean brush but it's always easiest to start with a lighter color and go into and darken later.
2. This lighter petal in this one shows you one way of starting. Color the entire petal in a very light shade of pink. Then add more to the base of the petal until it is the color you want.
3. Be sure to make sure that all of your petals aren't exactly alike. You do want some variation in depth of color. This helps your flower to appear "real".
4. This photo shows how I added some darker pink to the small folds of the petals, just like they would look with natural shadows.
Stick with me! It may sound like a lot, but once you get going you will see it isn't so bad!
