What do sunflowers, wreaths and boxes have in common? They are all the projects I've been working on over the last couple of days!
It took me long enough to get into the swing of making spring and non-winter inspired cards that I started to feel myself getting into a bright pink rut. That is, until I came across a sunflower stamp at my local craft store. I knew I had to have it and my imagination did not disappoint me!
I love to color my stamped images in but it can be difficult for me and it's a skill that I'm working to improve. So, to make my efforts easier I like to heat emboss my image first, then watercolor the image. It makes placing color almost foolproof!
I chose to go with colors that are very reminiscent of fall or late summer and a copper embossing powder to tie it all together. Heat embossing only requires a few tools and a basic technique. It's one of those techniques that can be used on almost any occasion card and very worth putting the money and time to learn into it!

Now, for my wreath project...
This actually started out as a card that I found on Pinterest that inspired a card that I made. I was very happy with the way it turned out and I had someone make a comment that it should be framed. Which got me thinking about putting it in a shadow box. What turned out was absolutely perfect! I couldn't be more pleased with either one!
